My son, Kevin was born in 1994 with severe eczema. His skin was extremely dry and it seemed as if I could never find the right cream or lotion to soften and heal his skin. Because his skin was so dry and flakey he itched constantly. When he was small, I used to put socks over his hands to keep him from itching until he bled.

I bought tubes, jars and bottles of the most expensive lotions I could find but his skin remained dry and never seemed to soften. He dreaded when I lathered him with lotion because he cried in pain that his skin "burned." He also complained that lotion made his skin feel "sticky." I began researching product ingredients and found an array of synthetic additives in most lotions. Many of the additives were creating a burning sensation to his extremely sensitive skin. Furthermore, many of the additives were not absorbing into his skin and left him feeling "sticky."

My quest to find an effective lotion led me to my own kitchen, where I blended and formulated lotion with natural oils and herbs to help heal and soothe Kevin's skin. I consulted with traditional herbalists to learn about natural ingredients that would promote healing. I wrote my formulations down in a book and found a new passion! The lotion I was making and applying to Kevin began to work over time to penetrate and heal his skin. He stopped crying in pain after his lotion rub down because my lotion didn't "burn" him. He also said "mommy's lotion is the best" because it absorbed into his skin without leaving a sticky or tacky residue.

Being a resourceful and determined mother led me to making an effective, natural alternative product for my son. I loved my new hobby and kicked around the idea of starting a business with my sister, Marina. Needless to say, a few years later, Sister Sky was born. This was a business founded on a need and created with a purpose. Kevin can certainly attest to that!

A value universal to Native American culture is that the best gifts come from the earth. Based on this value, we formulate our products with a guiding principle: incorporate botanical ingredients to promote health, healing, harmony and balance.

Kevin has since outgrown his severe eczema. He suffers from occasional break-outs, however, he continues to use my lotion and still says it's the best! I couldn't ask for a better endorsement than that!
